On February 6, 2010, the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League hosted the first annual Varsity All-Star and JV Young Guns games at the StarsCenter in Frisco. Senior defensiveman Blake Lawrence was selected to play with the Visiting team in the Varsity All-Star game. Due to a previously scheduled obligation, Blake was unable to skate in the game but he was selected by the league to participate in the game. Blake’s visiting team won 10-4. Eighth grader Jake Turner (forward) was selected by the league to represent the Home team in the JV Young Guns game (see photo above – Jake is on bottom row, second to the end on the right side). The Home team lost by a score of 10-9 in an exciting and close game.
Many thanks to all of the players, parents and fans who came out for the annual HP Hockey Varsity/Alumni game in December! Everyone enjoyed a spirited and fun evening. Special thanks to Babs Lawrence for coordinating the food and beverages after the game.
The Highland Park Hockey Association ('HPHA') is a Not-For-Profit Texas corporation with a Section 501(c)(3) charitable designation from the IRS. It was created as the Booster Club and Sponsor for the Highland Park High School Hockey Team, which is presently composed of both Varsity and Jr. Varsity Teams. The Highland Park High School Hockey Teams compete in the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League. Fulltime students from grades 9th through 12th are eligible for participation and roster spots on the Varsity Team. Fulltime students from the 8th through 12th grades are eligible for participation and roster spots on the Jr. Varsity Team. The parents of these team members automatically become members of the HPHA. The HPHA is governed by a Board of Directors (the 'Board'), which consists of five (5) members elected annually from the parent membership.
